Is juicing or smoothies better for you ? I was reading an article about this and they said that juicing takes a lot of the fibre out of your fruit and veggies, as it is only extracting the juice and leaving all the roughage and nutrients behind. Smoothies are a lot better because all the fibre and nutrients are retained in your drink and you can add some good fats like avacado, coconut Oil and nuts to make it a meal and keep you full!
I’m really enjoying my smoothies, especially when you add some frozen fruit.. Takes like a thick shake. When I made my first one, I mixed a lot of greens and added some frozen berries .. Turned out to be a really bad brown colour and my hubby said you can’t put that up on colourful plate haha.. My hubby didn’t like the look of this brown looking drink but still drank it…reluctantly .. My second attempt was much better .. You can see the nice pink colour as I got the ratio of greens to berries just right. We all have failures in the kitchen but we need to learn from them.
- 2 Frozen bananas
- Handful frozen or fresh berries
- 3 celery sticks
- 1/2-1 cup almond or coconut milk - adjust this to the consistency you prefer
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Small cube ginger
- Take frozen banana from freezer, along with other ingredients (add only 1/2 milk initially) and add to your magic bullet or similar. Blitz until all blended. Add the rest of the milk depending on the consistency you prefer.
